if its rabbits your after 1/2 they dont miss meny on the lamp very qick reflexes for bushing ferreting out bigger 3/4 stay well clear of hancock

A LOT OF PEOPLE DONT LIKE DAVID HANCOCK BUT WE,VE HAD 2 OF HIS BOTH BEEN 3/4 GREYHOUND X 1/4 BEARDIE. AND WE,VE BEEN HAPPY WITH THEM HE ALSO BREEDS 1/2 COLLIE X 1/2 GREYHOUNDS WITCH ARE JUST RIGHT FOR LAMPING, HERES MY BEARDIE X.

I was thinking, a 3/8. I have heard that 3/4 aren't agile enough to be really good at your standard bunny, is this so?

That is a nice looking dog. I hear mixed things about Hancock - I think it is the trainer that turns the dog into a gem or clod.

BEARDIE X,S SEEM TO BE A BIT MAD WHEN THERE PUPS BUT WHEN THEY GET OUT HUNTING EVERY THING SEEMS TO CLICK INTO PLACE, MINE TAKE ALL GAME, I WOULD GET AN OTHER ONE, HANCOCK ALSO BREEDS 1/8 COLLIES 1/8 BEARDIE X 3/4 GREYHOUNDS. AND WHEN YOU GET THEM FROM HIM YOU CAN NEARLY ALWAYS SEE BOTH SETS OF DOGS THEY WERE BREAD OFF.

my 3/4 breds were agile but big 28", both were border collie blooded.

maybe a bit big for just rabbits

a mate has a first cross dog and thats also around 26"-27".

nowt wrong with hancock dogs mate at least you know what they genuine have in them, a dog is what you make it yourself mate . seen alot of good hancock dogs and got one kenneled here had her for 12 years now and shes been spot on 3/4 greyhound 1/4 border.

I would get a 3/8 5/8 collie/greyhound from hancocks. I have this cross and shes great. Just the right size to, you might come across some bigger stuff while out hunting. She is quick aswell, she has only 1 hare, but that's because there aren't many around my way.

nice dogs are hancocks had a pup of him a few week ago and she is ace , nice temperment ,, i,m a member of a few sites same as this one and i got loads of great feed back of people who have and work hancock bred dog,s , youy get the odd one moanong about him , but the people who have hancock lurchers luv em and they work great , savageboy

Once i get settled in one place i am going to breed some collie greys! I will use a working border collie to a courseing strain of greyhound1 Might be in 10 years time but remember you heard it here first! Lol

I had a dog from Hancock..

I never had any problems with the dog...UNTIL i realy tested him,...and i mean pushed HARD!...

Thats when he started to yip...never on rabbits, but on deer and fox...he was NO way a fox dog, but he did kill about 20+...he was a good deer dog if i only let him take about five or six a week...towards the end he would yip at them all the time, but he broke his front left wrist, and never got over it...he lives with me mum know..

He done me well, and he was a great ferreting dog (what i used him for mostly) and he was also the best biggish sized Lurcher i have seen on rats...he killed loads of rats and rabbits for me, and well over 170 deer...would i have another?...not where i am know...MAYBE if i was back home, and i just wanted a dog for a little rabbiting, ferreting/lamping etc..just 20 rabbits a week, i would...but anything more than that, and i wouldnt..

Its simple facts, a bloke who breeds as many dogs as David does, is bound to breed some shit...but there is also a number of good dogs produced...i wouldnt worry about the dogs, but the way ther are fed, and reared...the place, at best, is a shit hole.

When my dog broke its wrist, the vet told me, it was due to poor feeding from the time it was whelped, to the time it was 12 weeks..i got the dog at 8 weeks, and he was on flesh, veg and Eukanuba puppy chow...so, imo, it was the first few weeks of his life...the pup also had fleas, and was wormy..

 

People say Collie Cross' are great beginner dogs, but i would question that...how many people realy need a dog THAT smart?...do they NEED a dog that can lamp 60 rabbits a night, four nights a week...or ferret for eight hours a day, six days a week?...

They can be BELTERS, great lamp dogs, and ferreters....i seen Collie cross' smash fox and trip deer with the best of them...BUT..they can be sensitive, moody, tempermental shits...

 

Just like any cross, when you get a good one, there GOOD!...when you get a bad one, there a fecking NIGHTMARE!..lol..
